That's not to say the experiment did not have serious costs. A serious Labour Party could have won the 2016 referendum for Remain. It might also have peeled Tory MPs away from no-deal Brexitism after 2017.

Can't top those but my mum's partner gave my wife a packet of dried figs picked up on holiday. Another time my mum gave her a small handbag which had used tissues inside it.

The effect on the children is the only good argument for abolishing the cap. But why should society subsidise those parents ?
