no, for sure, and have certainly also read plenty of "after" poems that i felt were just a thinly veiled excuse to rip someone off. i personally draw a pretty hard line at borrowing other's words when i write an after, but absolutely that is not overwhelmingly the case.

i do tend to agree with this in cases where the language itself is what is borrowed. will also say, though, that my own "afters" tend to be more about the concept of the original poem than the language itself.
