It’s the same thing they tried to do with oral contraceptives. I was on oral contraceptives for severe menstrual cramps when I was 13. I wasn’t having sex that’s for sure.

I fostered an infant. She needed formula and as a foster baby, got WIC. The Social Services Office, more than 20 years ago, was plastered with signs, "breast is best," so RFK isn't saying anything new. But there's always going to be a need for formula and trying to guilt women is the wrong message.

This exactly. I didn’t breast feed my baby it’s not anyone’s business other than my doctor. Let’s not parse who gets a valid excuse and who doesn’t. It’s not their business.

And some have circumstances that don’t work. It’s not easy if you’re poor and have to work & can’t afford all the equipment to pump or the setting where you can, or an understanding boss.

Honestly, this is a topic I don’t want to hear men discuss. I don’t give one shit what RFK, Jr thinks.

There are also some medicines you’re not supposed to breastfeed on. If you don’t take care of the parent(s), you’ve got an airplane oxygen mask situation. It’s no good to stop taking a med & destroy the mom’s health (physical or mental) in order to breastfeed.

So how come God makes it difficult or impossible for some women to breastfeed? You'd think he would have come up with a more reliable system.

Some women cannot or don’t want to breast-feed. Others must work outside the home and so are unavailable to breast-feed their child. Some mothers are undergoing treatments, etc. Some mothers die in childbirth. What then? Is the infant supposed to just starve because there’s no formula?

That is, elected officials from both parties, accept money from insurance and pharmaceutical companies lobbyists. It’s maddening. Not all, of course, but many.

Many Americans don’t travel to other countries to understand their systems plus media scares everyone with the “socialism” label.

That’s a fair point. Some of the pushback may be attributed to ignorance but millions of us supported Bernie Sanders, who has been a proponent for years. Bernie was kneecapped by the Democratic establishment. The Republicans won’t even touch universal healthcare. Both sides are bribed heavily.

On. Purpose.

Our elected officials don’t think we know how ubiquitous universal healthcare is in other industrialized nations.

Congratulations to Jimmy Kimmel on winning the coveted No Talent Award!

(You beat out so many of our elected officials. I’ll bet you rigged it.) 🤣🎉

Another hurdle for universal healthcare activists is that many elected officials in the Democratic Party don’t support it either. Remember how hard they fought @sanders.senate.gov ?

This stopgap measure of extending the ACA subsidies is a perfect time to demand #MedicareForAll once again.

I use this argument frequently when I’m talking to the GOP in IRL & online. No other country uses our healthcare/insurance model. And then I say ask yourself why.

Democrats should come out swinging and use this argument in ads for #MedicareForAll.
