2006 was the first time I experienced a general election result that was unambiguously positive. A nice change after 2000, 2002, and 2004!

(It honestly still might be the only time. 2020 took forever to resolve, 2018 was marred by the Senate result, and 2008 had Prop 8.)

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

We have officially reached the stage of DC K.O. where I'm thankful that most of my favorite C-listers aren't involved.

Why would you publish a hiking guide in 2025 recommending the Zumwalt Meadow Loop, a trail that has been closed since 2019?

I actually did dress up the last time I flew but that's because I was going to a wedding and didn't want to pack extra clothes when I was going to be on the ground in SoCal for less than 24 hours.
Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

Key deadlines in the California budget process:

- January 10: Governor's Proposed Budget
- May 14: May Revise
- June 15: Legislature must pass the Budget Act
- June 27: The Lottery
- July 1: Fiscal year begins
prop 13 turned California's state budget watch into an ancient civilization divination exercise. emperor gavin wrote into the oracle bones, and his delphic policy analysts divined the stock market gods are happy. no need for human sacrifices in the Sierras this year
For better — or worse — California's "Fiscal Outlook" is currently indexed to $NVDA

I recently read those issues and I am genuinely grateful that generic Yellow Peril villain General Fang has no other appearances.

#6 does have the first appearance of the Teen Brigade though!

(Also Bruce was still using the gamma ray projector to switch in and out of Hulk form. Yeah.)
It is insane to me that John Byrne thinks the definitive Hulk is from the almost entirely forgotten Incredible Hulk #5-6, the last two issues of the original solo run.

Francis Heaney’s Holy Tango of Literature.

He answers the (understudied) question of what would happen if poets and playwrights wrote works whose titles were anagrams of their names.
