Please, video content creators in the ttrpg scene...please follow this layout when doing a book review on Youtube. It's much better for viewers to know where they are and printscreen some product they want to check later.

Ok...3/4 can be a bit trickier than frontal. Need to practice way more.

I'm starting to feel comfortable drawing the frontal male face.

Next angle.

This is kinda how I imagined Father Inire's "mirrors" on my first Book of the new sun reading

Received a great gift today from an old friend from Texas. John Donne is the (metaphysical) goat.

A lot of things gone off the rails, but in the end I was happy with the exercise. I'll probably try to paint it with color pencils next week.

In other words, the author/editor must commission a

1. double-page art, with
2. the bleed space that will be "lost" on the back of the cover

If you saw the last pic you already realized a new issue: you can't leave the glued bleed showing. It gives a bad impression. You will need an endpaper.🧵
November 17, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Let's say the book will be a hardcover. In print design there's a thing called bleed: it's an extra printed space present only so the art doesn't end with a white border when trimmed on printers.

When doing hardcovers you fold it and glue it on the back, which usually means bigger bleeds. 🧵
November 17, 2025 at 2:59 PM
If the page dimension is half-letter that means the author/editor should commission a full letter page illustration for the cover.

"But what about the spine width?"
One can only bet on it, but the bet will be near the final thing if you know upfront the paper weight and cover specs (hard? soft?)🧵
November 17, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Let's think on the minor details that must be clear to the author/editor from the start of the project to commission a simple book cover as the one below:

1. The art covers front and back as a single image
2. From left to right a story is implied.
3. the text on the back interacts with the art

🧵
November 17, 2025 at 2:46 PM
There's a difference between good art and good book cover. You can have one and not the other or you can have both. What makes you hit both boxes is, imho, a projectual mindset toward the book object. The editor/author has a crucial role managing the creative team.

More below. 🧵

Concept: a beholder variant where instead of the classic "big eye + small eyes" design you have only one big insect-like eye flying around carried by dozens of translucent wings. Maybe it hunts people on ruins to use them as host for it's eggs.

I've spent the last week collecting torn pieces of already deteriorated posters through the city and gave them a poetic new life on a collage today. It was a nice exercise that probably will become a weekly routine from now on.

Great debut album of a trashy-esque hardcore band. Very catartic and relaxing in an aggressive way. 🙏😊

More cyberpunk stuff should print out pixel dithering on books and comics. It's simply beautiful.
