Costs are much the same without solar. I have solar (no battery) and heat/ DHW costs £623/yr at Octopus rates. Gas cost £1050 @ cap prices. Savings £427/yr. The gov needs reform the electric market in a way that dual fuel users get no price increase but ASHP users save more to increase take up

My overall energy bills for electricity including an EV and heat pump are about £87/month (current rates). In 2019 before prices nearly doubled I was paying £82/month for gas and electric plus about £90/mth for petrol (current prices) . I have solar but no battery.

What size house do you have ? We have 128m² 4 bed 1990s detached house , heat pump , ev, solar and no gas. Our bill is about £82/month. If gas turn your flow temps down to mimic an ashp and you will save money and still stay warmer than you picture suggests you are . £200/ month seems very high .

Pursuing hydrogen for personal transport at a national strategic level is madness. Hydrogen is wasteful compared to direct electrification and would require three times the primary renewable infrastructure. Green Hydrogen should be used where direct electrification is not viable.
