I predicted in 2022; the reason chatgpt, Copilot, midjourney etc. waste so much energy is because they are run by google and microsoft and so on; not because the tech is wasteful.

However, a more more important thing is treating art as a product; record companies are the ones who invented the narrative that a sale not made is equal to a stolen wage. Don't follow their footsteps unless you only care about making money.
