take this with a big grain of salt because I could be misremembering but I remember reading a Pokémon translator saying he translated a line as "soft, loamy soil" to teach kids a new word and he was right. I did learn what loamy meant from Pokémon in fact
there is almost no feedback I will reflexively ignore as a game developer but “you shouldn’t name something X because people don’t know that word” is one of them. oh no! You might learn a new word! God forbid you take away a piece of knowledge from a game that’s not a brand of gun or some shit lol

Actually just going to add onto this with a list of stupid bullshit I know about generation 1 pokemon games.
1. Lance's Dragonite can never ever hurt a poison-type because the AI will always score the psychic-type Agility/Barrier highest when it sees a poison-type opponent and all AI has infinite PP
