I’m sorry that’s how it is. I feel exactly as you do about TG (and probably as a result of having similar fond childhood memories of it). What if you just said “this is happening. If you want to spend the day somewhere else, you can”? l did that a couple times for mine in Seattle.

A few years ago, I noticed a mom walking with her daughter outside my university building. They looked to be doing a prospective-undergrad campus visit. I thought “wow, she’s pretty hot. It’s a shame she’s too young for me”…about the mom.

I almost joined the debate crowd my first week of HS. I walked into the meeting and the first thing I heard was their club president saying, in a tone even more pompous that the text might imply, ”we’re not the Debate Club…we’re the Debate Society.”
I turned on my heel and walked right back out.
