So we missed the majority of the proper snow, but I still got to see some snowy conifers. And hopefully this year I'll manage to get the whole year's worth of photos of the valley and line them all up. I fell short by 4 weeks last year, so frustrating!
Photo taken from the footbridge over the river dargle at its source in the Wicklow Mountains National Park, Ireland. The valley is called the Glensoulan Valley and is under a blanket of 25-30cm of snow. The view is toward the valley, looking upstream. There's rocks with snow on them in the water. A short distance upriver on the left, a lone, bare rowan tree stands. A little further to the left a lone conifer. There are 5 hills surrounding the valley, closest on the left being Djouce, with War Hill behind it. Straight ahead in the distance is Kippure (I think) to the right is Tonduff, with Maulin closer. Behind the camera the Dargle becomes Powerscourt Waterfall. The sky is cloudy, light in colour, a hint of grey in the distance, but also patches of clear blue sky can be seen here and there. A narrow path extends between snow laden conifers, a small track has been carved in the snow. The sky is cloudy with a hint of late winter afternoon gold reflecting on the edges. A view through conifer trees across the glacial basin into which the Powerscourt Waterfall, which is the focus of the image, flows. It is surrounded by snow. The gleaming white snow on the shoulder of Djouce mountain can be seen above and behind the waterfall
