We were about to take off so I took the opportunity to wrap this up. I said I'd get into my podcast, and I pulled out my headphones. She said enjoy, and opened her Bible. And look idk for sure, but to me it seemed less like a Christian practicing and more like another dog whistle. 👀

I wondered if she was going to try to convert me. But tbh I felt like something much weirder was going on. Like she was trying to size me up. Like she wasn't game to rescue me in case I was someone to appeal to. Like she wanted something (anything*) from me...

She recommended some National Parks in WA, NT, and QLD. She said she'd visited here or there for a Bible convention. The Bible convention comment seemed a bit forced...

I said I'd lived in Darwin for a year (not true) because business was better there (very true). She asked if I had traveled around Darwin. I said I visited Arnhem Land years ago, and I'd like to visit more places one day, but I'm pretty focused on work these days (true)...

I was neutral about the "women only" comment, and I wondered if that stood out (I still think it was a dog whistle)...

Tbf, I'd also given her a fake job because I thought *she'd* judge... 🤔🤔🤔

I said "You have a bit going on". She said "Yeah, the massage has been really nice... Women only..." And I was thinking heh. Either she is scared that I'll judge her if I assumed she's a wh*r3, or this was a SWERF dog whistle... 🤔

Her phone rang. Unknown number. Her finger hovered over the answer button. Then she said "Actually I'll text them later". She said she'd also recently started a massage business. This was actually more interesting to me - I didn't know what kind of massage but it didn't matter...

I said When I've let health-related things go, I needed longer than 6 months to get it back on track, so this timeline doesn't really make sense to me tbh. And the job instability would be stressful...

She said yes, they were only funded for 6 months at a time. And the gov funding body wanted to know who was accessing the service and why. So she got to read people's stories...
