Reminder that @axios.com is right-wing propaganda. TSMC announced a $10B investment in 2020 then, following CHIPS Act (2022) and a $6.6B grant from the Biden admin (2024), dramatically expanded it to $65B.

Trump had nothing to do with it.

How about this: Repost with a movie you love that you didn't expect to love at all
a silhouette of a man pulling a rope on a hill

The most infuriating thing living in downtown Brooklyn was seeing pigs take up the entire sidewalk at hoyt Schermerhorn doing this shit
"...in the period between 2018 and 2025, at least 10 scheduled plantings around precincts were voided due to reasons listed as either 'precinct,' 'NYPD parking,' or 'police backin parking.'"
A Hell Gate data analysis found the Parks Department cancels tree plantings near NYPD precincts due to cops parking on the sidewalk.

Queens alone would be the most diverse city in the world if it split off!
I don't think New York is the only great city out there by any means, but the glib "New York isn't special" takes do get on my nerves. There are between 700 and 800 languages spoken in that city! It's the most linguistically diverse place on Earth, maybe ever in human history!

Albany is the reason NYC couldn't just do a normal ass plastic bag tax, and that's just one of a million instances of the state making life hard for its most important asset
July 16, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Regardless of your stance re:optimal taxation, it's iiiiiinsane how much control Albany has over nyc's own governance especially anything relating to revenue

And people can still just shop at Ctown or Fairway or wherever!
The people losing their shit over this are just demonstrating that they know zero people in the military. We already have government run grocery stores and on military bases, they’re called commissaries
It's funny to see centrists & folks on the right - especially outside of New York - get so exercised about the idea of NYC having some municipally run grocery stores. If it's really such a bad and unworkable idea, why not kick back and watch Mamdani fail, proving your point? I think the secret is...

Flipping Jamaica like that is insane work!
This @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The numbers he cites, the strategy and results they produced — it’s the future. When have you heard *any* campaign talk about this, ever? (Video split in 2 to fit in Bluesky’s limits)

I hope northern Virginia dmv has gotten better since the 2000s cause going to the nyc ones after I moved was like going to a new planet of efficiency and ease
here's a funny thing: the dmv in nyc is an insanely seamless experience if you are not a moron. and gristede's sucks.

MattY is fundamentally a bad faith actor because he is entirely motivated by crass contrarianism, he has no values he is unwilling to betray to feel smarter than people who annoy him

If nothing else, I hope his example gets followed by other up and comer candidates... He's just a good dude, above all else!
an important point with Mamdani is that he *hasn't* run a divisive candidate. this isn't like the Bernie 2020 campaign where Bernie's staff went after everyone else, it's a mutually supportive, cross-endorsing, fuck Andrew Cuomo campaign.

The only reason gristedes exists is when there's literally no other option nearby...ctown opening on 89th and 1st was the best moment of my first year in nyc
“If New York elects a progressive mayor, I might have to close,” said the man who, more often than not, sold me expired cheese.

Finally watched Sinners, whose main message seems to be that Irish people appreciate good music but are not always sensitive to local norms in their desire to join a rollicking party

The grey matter is just oozing out of iggy's ears at this point, it's the only way one can arrive at this conclusion
