I think it is a trap to frame ideas that are rooted from identity as less productive than those disconnected - and also easier to execute for some people who can view themselves as 'neutral'. I'm glad to try and take lines and notes that are more fruitful (as the original way it was presented has).

I think I can understand the intention, and see the polarization of people and an inability to connect (especially online), but I feel that context collapse and the machinations of increasing profits No Matter What™ are a bigger contributor. While my paraphrased summary doesn't do it justice...

What I found on the essay was something else entirely: "More generally, you can have a fruitful discussion about a topic only if it doesn't engage the identities of any of the participants." and an avocation to not think of yourself as a label so you can "have better ideas".
