It’s a fact. It is depicted more as a way to unite the Loser’s Club and affirm life at a time of intense desperation, fear, and death… but yes it’s weird (and it makes sense why it’s never made it into the movie adaptations of the book).

Well color me shocked: the ADL actually made a statement pooh-poohing it. Hardly a stunning and courageous stand, but a teeny bit better than the debasement I expected.
