Novelist and short-story writer; Alaskan Brit who still says "Blimey!" and drinks tea though left Blighty over 30 years ago. Currently having a very hard time with Trump 2.0--my 2023 novel Turnback Ridge was supposed to be speculative fiction!
Wow, to quote Adam Savage of MythBusters: "I reject your reality and substitute my own."

And Barron!

Wow, yet another reason for many of us immigrants to flee this crazy country.

Other survivors of US attacks on small boats were sent home, not brought to the US and prosecuted--which tells you everything you need to know. If Hegseth ordered everyone killed in this attack, there's a chance it was to prevent any survivors from speaking up about who they really were.

Jeez, why does he have to mark everything with his face or his name? My dog has better self-control.

Clearly you can, which is why the uniform code of military justice says you can.

Doesn't Trump have anything else to do but pimp up the White House and push for films he wants made? Maybe we should be thankful he's not wreaking more havoc--and yet, if he's not in charge, his minions like Stephen Miller clearly are.

Does he think we're all living in different countries?

Is anyone surprised? Anyone? Many of the Supreme Court justices parted ways with the rule of law long ago.

Blimey!

What the hell? So now in the US there are schools of political thought that are disfavoured? And not, interestingly, those promoting authoritarianism? Or fascism?
November 21, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Right, it's always, "I didn't know," or "No one told me." If he's that ill-informed, why on earth does anyone think he should be running the country?

If he was a regular employee, he'd be fired for not showing up for work, gross incompetence when he is at work, creating a hostile work environment, etc, etc. Where's HR when you need it . . .

Unlike in the US, in Britain juries in criminal trials can submit a majority rather than a unanimous decision, and defendants found not guilty can be retried if significant new evidence comes to light. Could you talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the two systems?

Wow, so New Yorkers who are paying taxes for services and so on won't get them because Trump doesn't like Mamdani? It's beyond nuts.

This is a government of grifters.

Wow--Obama didn't take 76 private trips in 42 weeks at a cost of $60.7 million to tax payers. Trump has. Obama wasn't forever off playing golf, he was doing the job of running the country for the people who live here, not for himself, his family and his rich cronies.
