Oh man these are both good suggestions @k8nowak.bsky.social and @triangleman.bsky.social.

I've had students want to fist fight me on these concepts just this semester.

I'm ashamed to say it, but I got in a long argument with chatgpt about the area between the polar curves r=2 and r=2sin(theta).

We have agreed to disagree.

I'm teaching an *asynchronous* online Calc class in the Spring Semester. This is the first time I've taught in this manner. Any resources/blogs/videos/books/models or just plain ol' suggestions are very VERY welcome. #edusky #mathsky #iteachmath

Gonna engage some first year grad students in a conversation about content knowledge (CK) and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK).

Which Venn diagram do you think best represents our current understanding of the interaction between the two? Or what would your venn look like?

Update: tonight was the first time I've ever been watching TV and done the cover-the-eyes thing

Now that Alien: Earth is over I will now be cancelling Hulu.

Will I re-up if they make a season two? Only one way to find out!

Reading Lockhart is a trip. I'll go from agreeing, to vehemently disagreeing and getting red and mad, and then agreeing again all within like a single paragraph.

BTW Vi Hart's videos are available on Vimeo. Apparently they pulled their YT videos due to bad Terms of Service.

The Vimeo views are in the dozens, rather than in the millions as was on YT. Consider becoming a Vi patreon.https://www.patreon.com/vihart
Currently this is the only available video on Vi Hart's YouTube page.

I'll be teaching a 1-hour seminar course for first time graduate teaching assistants in math. Any recommendations on quick/digestible articles or excerpts for such students? Just things with easily implementable practices for folks who may or may not have taught before.

I've been spending the summer adding alt text to various online graphical problems, but I could definitely use assistance if any of y'all have experience. As an example, here's a graph and you can see my alt text the picture. How would you describe it in a manner that is helpful for screen readers?

When I applied to Baylor for undergrad I had to choose a denomination of faith, which I did not have or know anything about (raised Catholic, very lapsed). I chose something called "Disciples of Christ" because that sounded like something the university wld like. To this day I've no idea what DoC is

I've been out of the pbl training gig for years now. Curious what it looks like when AI can build a content oriented project (at least the bones of one) in seconds. Like what do pblworld, new tech, hth, pltw offer in terms of project trainings now? (This is not a troll I'm genuinely curious)

I'll be teaching a Calc 2 course this Fall. It's intended to be a Calc course for Biological Scientists. Id like to do some "lab-like stuff," applying Calc concepts to Science. Days where we use Calc to solve a Science problem and do a writeup.

Anyone in #edusky have experience w lab days in math?
