Gas engines need fuel, the average American drove 12,000 miles a year in 1985. That’s $655 & $200 in maintenance expenses exclusive to gas engines that you don’t need for an EV.
China doesn’t manufacture for export to the US anyway, they have no interest in meeting American safety standards.
