Back in August my Birthday money came to the same price as The Spectrum, so I was going to treat myself but I never did. But yesterday Smyths were selling it with £45 off for Black Friday (which I still hate is a thing in the UK) so I snapped it up & it arrived today. And I still have £45 left over.

Watched The Creator (2023). Had no idea anything about the film going in but had been told it was really good. Not really sure what I was expecting but I enjoyed it but I feel its not going to be one that stays with me. It was good but not great.

Caught up with both seasons of Peacemaker. A lot of fun, great music, but my favourite part of both series was no doubt the choreographed intros.

Its Dolly and Molly's Birthday today! When we adopted them 3 months ago the shelter said they were 7 and their Birthdays were 14th Nov. According to their microchips, its today and they turn 9.

Watched The Monster Club (1981). One of the last of many British horror anthology films with big names, hosted by a horror legend. Vincent Price was 3rd choice after Cushing & Lee turned it down but he suits it well. The stories however seem more 60s than 80s, but are camp fun.

Been playing Final Girl. A great thematic mix and match solo boardgame based on horror films. Managed to get all of the first 2 seasons in an October sale. Only played the first film so far, & it took me 3 games to finally defeat the Jason/Leatherface/Mike Myers like bad guy.

Watched Until Dawn (2025). Never played the game, so I don't know how it compares, but the film tries to be many horror genres at once, & ends up a rather incohesive mess as a result. Also no real likeable characters. The main good point is the use of practical effects.

Watched Psychomania (1973) US: The Death Wheelers. A British horror biker film that is extremely silly and a lot of fun, but played totally seriously.

Watched Charade (1963) Mystery romcom with a big cast led by Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Lots of twists and turns though the final reveal felt a bit of a damp squib.

Watched The Invisible Man (2020). An interesting modern update of the H.G. Wells classic seen from the victims point of view with the eponymous character the gaslighting, controlling husband who stalks her after his apparent death. Elisabeth Moss as always acts her socks off.

Rewatched The War of the Worlds (1953). Despite its major changes such as being set in America instead of the UK and the Martian vehicles floating instead of walking on tripodal legs, this George Pal adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic is iconic cinema.

Watched Pearl (2022). Not usually a big fan of prequels, but much preferred this to X and Mia Goth is really great as the disturbed farm girl.

Watched Doctor Cyclops (1940) which is also my cult calendar poster for this month. Not sure if I saw it as a child or just saw clips & trailers, but its very typical mad scientist fare from that era.

Watched Alien: Earth (2025). I am always wary of prequels. I usually find them restricting, predictable, over referential and often contradictorary. That said however, I did enjoy this show & felt it brought in some new ideas as well as filling in some previously missing back story.

Rewatched The Wrong Box (1966). A fun farce full of comedy legends, with Michael Caine & Nanette Newman as the white hats against Peter Cook & Dudley Moore playing their evil but inept cousins with many famous faces filling up the rest of the cast with comedy cameos.

Watched Terrified (2017) Original title Aterrados, is an Argentinian horror movie that can be quite disturbing & atmospheric while at other times can be over pedestrian. I would recommend watching in the original Spanish with subtitles over the English dub, which is not good.

Watched The Pope's Exorcist (2023). A pretty standard exorcism movie made different by starring Russel Crowe playing the title character who was also a real person, with the film being based on the book of his life. Crowe brings character to the role & the film looks good.

Adopted these two amazing 8 year old sisters Molly & Dolly 2 months ago after losing our 18 year old JRT last year and it's like they've been part of our family forever. They've helped improve both my mental and physical health too.
