Would be even better if they took the $20M saved & put it into a pillow deal for SP they could flip at deadline.
But if they ask for org SP depth as return for Donny then I will take issue.

If not Sheehan specifically, he’s the sort of speculative/high upside move I’d support bc he’s young, controllable, and has preformed. To your point, the Donnie shouldn’t be like Gray, where a MiLB SP is the center piece of the return.

This is memory/possible conjecture, but I remember there being several times Reyes name came up in major trade talks before his debut. Then the (obviously stupid by today’s standard) pot suspension, injuries, etc.

Are you familiar w the concept of opportunity lost? The contract he signed in FA shows what his value was at the time we traded him. The guys we got back have provided $0 in value. Thats a trade deficit of close to $50M.
SF also did the stupidest thing possible by making him a SP.

Alex Reyes withered on the vine. Same w CMart to a lesser extent.
Gorman and Walker are trending that direction.

Hicks signed a $45M contract, a pretty good indication of his value. Klopfenstein is gone and Robberse was just let go and resigned to an MiLB deal so he didn’t take up a 40 man spot.

That was a hell of a team.

Not sure I’d categorize that as tanking, even tho the last two weeks have been rough.
