My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

I really hope this serves as an example of how we can improve #Halifax streets for pedestrians, people who ride bikes, and transit users.

The correct action here is for Fillmore to resign, since a Harvard educated planner and former Halifax senior staff member should know the basics of how the city/council operates.
“I didn’t fully understand the barriers to fulfilling the mandate that I was elected to deliver until after I was in the chair,” Fillmore told reporters.

I found a map from 1979 of Via Rail routes across Canada with daily service, and compared it to a new map I made of cities that are currently served by daily (minimum 7 trains/week) passenger rail service.

I’m seeing folks saying that Mayor Fillmore is just proposing a pause so that the bike lanes can be made BETTER.
If Fillmore wanted to improve things, he wouldn’t be proposing a “pause,” he’d be proposing an energetic and purposeful acceleration, a courageous removal of barriers and delays.
