I liked the bollards I saw in Konstanz @worldbollardassoc.bsky.social

Not surprised. Last month in Groningen I found they were rebuilding a road bridge, so they had put up a temporary bridge just for pedestrians & those on bikes.

🎵It was 40 years ago today…🎵
that I started at @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social
I didn’t make it down to South Ken today but did pass by my old intercollegiate hall of residence (Commonwealth Hall), well, where it used to be. Always grateful for the opportunities that that education gave me.

Can’t prove cause & effect, but really noticed the difference on the roads this week…

Well this certainly doesn’t count as a mountain bike, spotted by Lake Zurich last month.

Worth remembering how bad it was before - found this from when we had to use the shared path along the Bristol Road. The path was very bumpy in places because of tree roots & the bike & trailer didn't have suspension. @a38cycleway.bsky.social @betterstreetsforbirmingham.org

Spotted this sculpture - accept that it’s outside a motor parts manufacturer, but it seemed to sum up people’s perception of car ownership. #motornormality

Maybe it’s growing up on an island, but crossing land borders is still a special moment. Yesterday Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria & Germany in a day on the @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social. All thanks to the Shenanigans [sic] Area. I didn’t notice one crossing as no signs! #VélosSansFrontières

Brum to Zürich by train in a (long) day, but can be done. Left plenty of time for the changes just in case. @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social in tow as well. Even managed to bag Seat61 on the Eurostar @seatsixtyone.bsky.social

and for going to golf…

Yeah, west of Arnhem even the Garmin Climbpro kicked into action on a few climbs. The route from Nijmegen to Utrecht was pretty lumpy generally.

Had similar @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social derailleur malfunction back in 2018. But trying to get hold of a bit of tape to botch a repair in Paris an hour after France had won the World Cup was a challenge.

I don’t think it helped moving the hospital way out of the city. It increases dependency on getting there by car. There had been one on the original site since 1771 close to the city centre (my brother was born there & one of my grandmas died there). It was accessible to more people than the new one

Just share nicely.

What about those that drive straight at you on the wrong side of the road. I don’t think even Dante had a place for them.

Totally agree. I came off on the ice 2 years ago and broke my shoulder. Eventually found a racing trike on eBay. Has been a godsend for commuting & shopping this winter. It comes with other issues on cambered roads & when cornering, but remains upright on icy roads.

#TreeByBike - That time of year again. The crosswinds weren’t much fun, but some decent power numbers.

Swapped 2 wheels for 3 for this morning’s commute to be on the safe side in the snow/slush.
