It also requires landowners with over 1,000ha (about 700 in total) to set out proactively how they will uphold and facilitate public access on their land in line with the statutory right of access and the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Final vote on the Bill is 4 November.

We are pleased that MSPs have overwhelmingly voted down amendment 19 to the Bill which would have deleted reference to access rights and the Scottish Outdoor Access Code in the matters which the new Land Management Plans have to cover. That would have weakened the Bill.
