Tbh I actually like the idea that it’s a body mod, though I headcanon it’s usually more of a clan symbol or something like traditional tattooing where it means something specific (adulthood for example or a familial bond for another)

I’ve done so much worldbuilding for the World Unsundered with my buddy we have a whole set of political system notes and Before Amaurot notes and Hades has brothers and a fucked up relationship with his father and Hythlodaeus has parents who he also has a fucked up relationship with
