Recently, I've been playing with the idea of porting @laravel.com's Eloquent ORM to the Javascript ecosystem.

Probably spent way too many side-hustle hours on this one, but we made it to the "Houston, we have a rough prototype" phase.

It makes @svelte.dev's remote functions shine even brighter! 😎

Next week I’m travelling to Zürich, but sadly I’m leaving a day before the @laravel.swiss meetup 🫠

Still, if any Laravel dev in the area wants to grab a cup of coffee on Tuesday or Thursday afternoon & talk code, life, … shoot a Bluesky butterfly (or whatever we call that around here) my way.

Ok, this is turning out to be a pretty good Friday, so maybe I can share the story from the high (green) grass of @laravel.com development.

I was recently asked to create a simple B2B app that, in the simplest terms, allows the stakeholders to manage and download PDF files.

Here’s a public service announcement:

if you bought a domain for your open source project that will eventually house the documentation, but it doesn’t yet… please please PLEASE don’t show it on your github repo and link it to the same github repo. 🤨

@mrmacintosh.bsky.social hey, sorry to bug you on Bluesky, just wanted to check if there’s an email where I can report a security concern to the OpenCore Legacy patcher team 😅.

Thanks!

Despite being in tech for decades at this point, I still get a kick out of the tiniest of things, but most of all "the janitorial commits" to open source software.

Found two of these gems out in the high grass today and couldn't walk past them.

Read this post by The Daily Coach today and realized I needed to give myself a long and hard kick in the butt today.

Had the kick been a field goal attempt, it likely would have been a 70-yarder. 😅

@freek.bsky.social hey, this may be a long question for 🦋, but can you offer some insight into how you see the @spatie.be laravel-livewire-wizard’s future, with Livewire 4 now primarily switching to a Volt-like syntax?

Thanks!

I can neither confirm nor deny that every time I make a task-list-like form in an app, I test it with Adele lyrics. 😅

As we have come to expect with @johnrudolphdrexler.com, he has set and cleared a high (trust) bar with this talk at Laracon US. Great job.

Happy to say, you can soon run

php artisan make:volt folder.component

and it will work as expected.

@laravel.com forever 🔥
So, today I sat down and made another “signature” PR to @laravel.com’s Livewire Volt.

It’s what I call a “janitorial PR” - that crack that’s bugging you until you fix it - even if it’s only you who sees it.

As a reminder to never stop going back and giving back.

Had some twists and turns in the past few weeks.

Time to go back to the lesson I learned in my Para Alpine Skiing days: when it doesn’t work, go back.

In ski racing, that meant no skiing through gates, just freeskiing, making turns and finding the joy in everything being simple again. (1/3)

Tested @svelte.dev’s experimental async and remote function call features these past few days, with some very simple use cases.

Complexity of learning to do things “the SvelteKit way” has been lowered dramatically, while maintaining the high DX bar.

Great update! 🫶🏻

Won’t be able to make it to Barcelona this year, but as a wheelchair user and @svelte.dev community member - knowing that the venue is fully wheelchair accessible (without digging around for info) is hugely important.
