My oldest went glider flying today. Nothing teaches energy management like soaring with no engine. Just you, the air, and gravity keeping score.

My wife was born in Yugoslavia (Croatia). Hearing that stories from friends and family during that time is heartbreaking. Such a beautiful part of the world.

🎉 ✈️ Completed my biannual flight review today! ✈️

Big thanks to my CFI friend, and fellow FSU alumni, Leila for a great session! Check out these clips from my review—always room for improvement, but the skies felt great today.

It was quite useful for late nights in my 20’s. I have since rediscovered it since my boys love Doritos Locos Tacos. We don’t have issues. 💪🏻🌮🤣

Both are great cities. No issues taking my family to either.

On our 2021 road trip we drove right past but couldn’t enter because it was still closed from Covid. 😢

It was a tremendous journey, and my family loved every moment. So much more to learn and explore. Here’s to new adventures in the sky!

As I lined up to land, another plane pulled onto the active runway. I shouted over the radio and they spun around just in time to clear the way. We landed safely with a near-perfect touchdown—stall horn and all!

Back at Apopka, our relaxing trip ended with some chaos. On final, I flew into a flock of buzzards—no room to maneuver, so I had to ride it out. Thankfully, no strikes!

Reversing our route, we picked up flight following again. Near Daytona, ATC directed me further east to avoid descending airliners. I appreciated the guidance—it’s always fascinating sharing airspace with the big birds.

Lunch at The Half Shell was a highlight—amazing food and that butter cake! Later, we climbed the historic lighthouse for stunning views before heading back to the airport to fly home.

We landed safely with a nice coastal crosswind and parked at the beautiful FBO. From there, we grabbed an Uber downtown and explored the charming island.

With weather info in hand and the Saint Simons airport in sight, I canceled flight following with Jacksonville and tuned into the island’s CTAF. Two jets were on long finals, so I extended my downwind to give them space. Wake turbulence from jets can flip small planes like mine!

In Daytona’s airspace, I overheard ATC having trouble communicating with another pilot. Then, I heard my tail number and was asked to relay messages. I quickly complied, and both parties got the info they needed. A cool moment where GA pilots help keep the skies safe!

We picked up flight following from Orlando ATC. It’s not required for VFR flights, but it’s great to have an extra set of eyes and avoid potential traffic conflicts. Plus, I was flying higher and near busy airport approaches, so ATC could vector me if needed.

Ahh, maybe you were the one that redirected us to the plebeian view when we mistakenly walked up here. 🤣

No doubt. We visited several years ago and I absolutely loved the casually amazing food available everywhere.

Yeah, but the block/mute lists make it infinitely easier to manage. I honestly don’t see as much and I think these lists are part of the reason.
