My most-read stories of 2024 included natural beauty, unmarked bars, happy hours, and, because there always has to be a Maryland-related story, cocktail usurpers on the Delmarva Peninsula. A thread...
Speaking of the World Cup: Back in 2006, I wrote my first "Where to watch the World Cup" story for Weekend. Shockingly, some of the bars mentioned in that 19-year-old story are still with us.

Threading them below...

A thing I learned from a 1984 Washington Post interview with "Gremlins" star Zach Galligan, linked in this weekend's event guide: The actors originally considered for the role of Billy were Kevin Bacon, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez and Ralph Macchio.

Also, you’re probably drunk on the post-TD shots of Rumplemintz.

Just FYI: Given the weather forecast for Sunday, we're seeing some outdoor events cancel (Songbyrd's 10th anniversary block party), postpone (SWDC's Family Fall Fest, now 10/19) or move (AmapianoDMV now at AI PopUp near Union Market instead of Bullpen).

Check social media before making plans.
