It's just a matter of physics that no two households can domicile themselves in the same location; any person's existence is a displacement event on another when it comes to residing at the best locations. The only holistic way to compensate for displacement effects is through a land value tax.
Left-NIMBYs criticize YIMBYs for defending "luxury" housing being built in high demand areas because they claim they want "affordable" housing built in high demand areas. The common refrain is "area," which means a land value tax would solve this.

The Libertarian Case Against Intellectual Property Rights
Intellectual property rights have a tainted past. Originally, both patents and copyrights were grants of monopoly privilege pure and simple.

I think FIFA have gone a bit bonkers...the instructions were a "A piece and jeelie". Nothing to do with an absence of fighting!

Why does anyone think they would have to ask #piastri to help #lando win the #wdc in the narrow range of scenarios that Oscar could not win it but helping his team mate would enable him to beat Max? Clue is in the word...team.

Landlords and homeowners when Georgists speak of taxing unearned land rents:

I realise that everyone's a bit scared of The Bear and something like this might feel necessary...but surely reintroducing involuntary servitude in the military ought to be a plebiscite issue at least. Not purely a government diktat or even parliamentary vote.

Modern Labour do not like tSnowden, but the first Labour chancellor he had one quality his successors should follow: he was a #Georgist, even penning an introduction to an edition of Henry George's' "Protection or Free Trade". Read it now Rachel & save your skin! oll.libertyfund.org/titles/georg...
Protection or Free Trade | Online Library of Liberty
George was not just an advocate of the single tax on the unimproved value of land, but also a strong defender of free trade, as this work demonstrates. Read the Liberty Classic on this title from Econ...

Now her me out please and let me know if this is wildly out. Lots of talk about taxing billionaires. But I *think* you might find it wouldn't even cover one week's worth of change recently in the budget black hole let alone give loads of dosh to spend on pet projects. UK's 55 billionaires if similar

It's another politicians tinkering aimlessly (and destructively) day!

It's so frustrating being a #Georgist #SingleTax advocate on a budget day. You just want to scream "stupid people" at all o them! #abolishtaxes #sharetherents #superchargetheeconomy #valueourplanet #makepovertyhistory

"We grant people different rights based on their genetic heritage and on which scrap of land they happened to be born on. That’s mad, isn’t it?"

I just think, when debating immigration and so on, that we should try not to lose sight of the fact that "nationality" is a made up thing.
Why does nationality matter, anyway?
Deciding someone's legal rights based on a nebulous combination of birthplace and parentage is a bit weird

Farage can now be easily boxed in to a corner where his only ‘defence’ becomes: “Yes I spouted Kremlin propaganda & Putin worship but, unlike Nathan Gill, I didn’t need bribes to do it.”
It is, once again, a question of whether interviewers have the temerity to shut down his whining obfuscations.

Was #Mamdani *summonsed* to the WH or did he *demand* an audience, I wonder? Cos it would be great if it was the latter, waving his victory in the face of the epitome of the type of person who his voters were voting against :)

@centerforcities.bsky.social Hello...great to see this report. As a simple proxy for very detailed analysis of what's where I use this: www.tomforth.co.uk/circlepopula... Turns out, for instance, that beautiful Seville has 3 times the population (and so density, more or less) as Oxford, say.
