Guilbeault's inclinations seem to be green centred and therefore he may find the orientation of the Carney government difficult to fathom and to stomach in general. If he's thinking of removing himself from the liberals, where would he go? This is likely a statement of credibility to his electorate.

Historically, the aged have been respected if not revered by communities of people that have come before. That custom would seem to have slipped quietly away with the attendant loss of a sense of history/wisdom (as you say). That unfortunate cost has always been born disproportionately by women.
