"The leading theory for the formation of the Moon is that a newborn Earth was slammed into by a Mars-sized object named Theia in the pinball chaos of the early Solar System.
....some of Theia may also have remained with the Moon....lunar sulfur may have originated on Theia, too."

LETTERS.....😍😍😍
I had fun doing this podcast episode for The Ancients about Old Babylonian letters! We discussed messengers, scribes, and even a certain copper trader of dubious repute! #eanasir #cuneiform #Mesopotamia

A very happy birthday to the ever-beguiling and brilliant William Blake, born #onthisday in 1757.

Pictured here, his depiction of the biblical story of Jacob's Dream. One of several Blake prints for sale in our online shop: publicdomainreview.org/shop/fine-art-prints/artist/w... #otd

Maybe it's just me, but this was a headwreck of a read. Seemingly there's now a whole new "craft" emerging - producers who help aspiring musicians to "humanize" their AI generated songs.
for my @newyorker.com column I profiled Nick Arter, a consultant turned musician who began producing AI songs under the name Nick Hustles a year ago and has hit millions of streams and gone pro. Where is the line of human creativity in the post-AI music industry? www.newyorker.com/culture/infi...

Dave was one of my earliest musical friends and companions - his situation now is so sad, and I'm sharing this in case any of you might remember his work, and wish to help.
Dave Williams, lead guitarist in Mellow Candle, now suffers from advanced Alzheimers, and is profoundly deaf. He lost his partner just recently, and Alison (lead singer and his former wife) has set up a GoFundMe so that we can help out a bit - pls help if you can!

Wonderful piece by @juderogers.bsky.social. Reihill's quote at the end really resonates: “People, for whatever reason, love strange, unsettling, scary stuff, but Eliot is a protective, authority figure, so one doesn't feel abandoned going into the dark with him.”
In 1925, T.S. Eliot was broken, depressed, ill. He thought the poem he was about to add to his anthology was so terrible that he wrote to Ezra Pound, a few weeks before it went to the printers. “1) Is it too bad to print? 2) If not, can anything be done about it?”
