"what if it happened" is the place from which most ppl make things, ig, but you can tell when the heart's not in it. even the critiques i have, i love having them. strictly as story/structure it's like everything i could want. stories where truth is painful yet circumstances dictate it must be known

the sort of magical realism where the magic is only there to highlight the realism, and the story knowing a film IS fantasy and, in light of that, knowing you know this, asking you pretty directly what concessions you're willing to make... and a film that has zero interest in disproving itself

great movie for playing with the form and structure, demanding of its audience, audio that's intentionally hard to make out, self-aware conventions it leans into as a test of mutual resolve, the length of time the camera is allowed to linger to create discomfort through nothing but mundane actions,

favourite character traits is a guy who is both highly avoidant and far too direct, sometimes to the point of aggression— but needs those avoidant/blind spots also. this is why i like both phoenix wright and folken fanel. and jotaro, divorcee of the year. fuuuck dudes really do rock
