When I was driving once I saw this painted on a bridge:
"I don't want the world, I just want your half"

Chased the aurora last night about an hour outside the Twin Cities with my nice camera and a tripod. I'm no @mvinge.bsky.social but I got some pretty decent shots!

Last night’s fundraiser for @moreneighbors.org and @sustainstpaul.bsky.social was great - love to be in a room full of people who will lose their absolute shit for @blindeke.bsky.social

My most naive and idealistic political opinion is you shouldn’t lie to people while you ask them for money

What I found is a Kneipp pool, named after Sebastian Kneipp a 19th century priest-turned-naturopath with a following in Germany and Slovenia. Kneipp developed a deep interest in water cures and such after contracting (and recovering from), wait for it, Tuberculosis! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebasti...

I discovered this odd little shallow pool on a hike/bike trail near Pullach, Germany and hey @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social I bet you'll *never* guess which horrible disease led to the construction of this and many similar pools in Germany

That's it for now! Time to crack open a nice can of hot dogs I got at the duty free shop

The Bavarians are extremely proud of their alpine water, not least of which for being the first step in all that delicious Bier they make in München. Wandering around the bike/hiking trails along the Isar and you'll find all sorts of monuments and fountains with unlimited mountain-fed Trinkwasser

Instead of a smashed penny in Germany you can get a souvenir 5-eurocent coin and you don't even need to supply your own 5-eurocent coin

"Cigarette machine with contactless payment" feels like something out of a Philip K Dick story and not a functioning piece of infrastructure in actual timeline 2025

Spotted in Munich:

* Adorable yellow mail bike

I sometimes wonder if the residents of Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland are aware of existence (and local pronunciation) of New Ulm, Minnesota, USA

Brussels has a number of murals celebrating the city's rich history of comic art - we didn't have time for the official "Comic Strip Trail" but we did catch a few by coincidence

Our E-Bike tour from Amsterdam out to the countryside (delightful!) happened upon Broek in Waterland's annual festival, featuring a performance by local legends Het Kapiteinskoor

I wonder how much you gotta pay Samuel L. Jackson to do your campaign for Dutch seaweed snacks

This is the ideal automobile body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like

Seems like most basement apartments in Amsterdam come with a little bike ramp for an easier time getting your feets and your Fiets up to street level

You can get photos of beautiful castles and art everywhere, but you can only get these LITTLE OBSERVATIONS OF NORTH-CENTRAL EUROPE right here (or on the other open-ish social network)

For example, this view of Move-In Day in Amsterdam

I try to follow the principle of Live and Let Live, especially about food, but then these horrible fiends went and added glitter to maple syrup

Something I didn't fully understand as a child, but do now: every collection of Christmas songs needs Hippies and Muppets and a Beach Boys cover and solemn poems and verses in German and songs about death.
