Birthday thread! Had an excellent workout this morning. It’s a good thing the gym was empty, because I was watching Critical Role C1, ep 109 and cackling like a crazy person while on the treadmill.

But somebody threw a tantrum and decided to take the US ball and go home. Somebody…. somebody….
who was that…. OH YEAH. THESE SAME GUYS.

Democrats swept key elections across the country on Tuesday night, delivering a rebuke of President Donald Trump’s second term so far and boosting the party’s hopes ahead of the midterms.

Here are some top takeaways:

The party won the governor’s race in both states and a state attorney general’s contest that was up in the air, as voters delivered a rebuke of President Donald Trump.

Relieved that voters resoundingly rejected this fascist bullshit.

Angry that we still have at least another year of it, probably another three, and that we're by no means in the clear.

Livid that it all could have been avoided if we had simply not reelected the asshole who tried a coup.

The public-facing side of American conservative politics more or less amounts to crashing out constantly about a bunch of shit that either you or the weird liars you listen to uncritically have made up. The non-public part, from what we've seen of the chat logs and such, is somehow much worse.

I have watched this work locally. When things are going terribly and the local GOP abandons their people and the local dems show up with food pantries and stuff to help anyone who needs it. It bleeds through the noise. Sometimes it radicalizes them into our cause.

But we get NO support down here.
It doesn’t matter what I think. Also, none of this would ever happen. But if I had a zillion dollars:

1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…
If I were to sum up my advice to the Democratic party leadership about how to defeat Trumpism, it would be to set aside policy for now and focus instead on articulating a vision of what American society should look like and what role the US should play in a rapidly changing world today.

I heard AFGE said @democrats.org should fold / pass a continuing resolution to temporarily fund the government.

But here’s an AFGE local saying “Hold the Line.”

I wish Democrats would communicate every day why they can’t sign on to a CR.

Example: ~20 million Americans will see premium increases.
Democrats must HOLD THE LINE. Do not cave to right-wing ideologues who have ripped away health care from millions of Americans.

Keep fighting, and we will have your back.
