Something I needed reminding of after listening to this episode of #withpod (@chrislhayes.bsky.social) is that the "subsidies" much argued about are roughly equivalent to the MASSIVE tax benefit employers get for paying for part of health insurance costs.

When I turned that off, the tabs "Updates, Promotions, Social, InBox" were deleted by default. The tabs that existed BEFORE Gemini. #rage

One interesting result of the new app for the grocery chain I shop at, is that my purchase history is available. I can see how much items have increased in price over 5+ years. In case I thought higher grocery prices were being gaslit, prices in fact are increasing YoY.

The idea that you should let an employee go because the ‘waters may have better fish’, in this economy is ludicrous. Why terminate a skilled employee when a new hire will take 2-3 years to bring up to speed to have the same skillset you just let go. Yes, my employer is going to trip on themselves.
