Went to see an exhibit of the great Lappish artist Reidar Särestöniemi at the Didrichsen Art Museum. Reidar was a proponent of gay rights and nature conversation in his large dramatic oil paintings, and a troubled mind living as a Thoreau-esque recluse in the Arctic wilderness in life.

I’m probably the last Finn who hadn’t ridden on the western extension of the Helsinki area subway. In the parallel universe where Nokia chose Android, this ghost town modern art marvel in Keilalahti would’ve been my commute stop.

Icelandair flies from Boston to Helsinki, with a short (or long if you so wish) stopover in Iceland. They offer similar connections between many pairs of US & European destinations. This is the fastest 1-stop BOS-HEL route (see picture) by far.

I think the tariff policies are driven by an indicator remaining download duration from some old version of Microsoft Windows.

Sunny, cold and windy at Weston Ski Track today. All the natural snow melted from Boston with the warm rainy days leading up to new year’s, but it’s going to be cold enough for making snow and hence #xcskiing at least for the next ten days.

Every year an even more unorthodox take on the traditional Finnish Christmas Eve dinner. This year: casseroles (beet & blue cheese, carrot, sweet potato & apple) and lamb shanks.

I bought new skis in the spring of 2023 and finally we got some snow so could give them a go at the Weston Ski Track! Conditions not great yet with grass peeking through in places, but still, sure feels great to finally ski again!
