It's December 1st - which means I get to share weird and wonderful Victorian Christmas cards, starting with one that looks straight out of #StarWars. @markhamillofficial.bsky.social, is that you?

Is it cultural approbation to use guillotines? Should Americans use their more historically appropriate gallows?

The whole world is going to be watching and don't want to come across as culturally insensitive.
People say they want to manufacture real things in America again BUT they complain that it’s “inappropriate” and “not productive” to talk about how we need lots of guillotines. Like make up your minds!

If Sponge Bob can make a guillotine, the rest of us can too.

Maybe one of those YouTubers can help out by making how-to videos.

A friend of my husbands was in divinity school, and said contemporary church-going people “can’t handle” the story of the prodigal son, and often get angry at it.

Previously I thought, powerful story, addresses god-as-loving-father rather than lawgiver. Now I wonder, maybe anger is the point.

If you want to be a person who has faith (I don’t), it can’t be just for the parts that offer *you* something; it has to include the parts that challenge and require something of you.

Converted to Catholicism so you could crawl up Saint Paul’s ass and vigorously misunderstand some epistles? ‘K.

Santa has been culturally appropriated by atheists/non religious.
I hate the assumption that Santa is somehow not religiously moored in Christianity.

I read this and genuinely wondered which two people this was referring to. I read the thread to find out and it was a couple of the usual subjects being scum. I hate this timeline.
But now he sees her capitalizing off of cuckolding him and he is releasing it now to reassert his dominance over her.

They are both irredeemable pieces of shit.

Best Thanksgiving adventure ever.
OK - pie discourse - best pie story:

In 2016, we were living in Andover, in the UK. My wife was assigned as an exchange officer at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop (yes, really).*

The US Army has a tradition: senior leaders, in dress uniform, serve junior troops Thanksgiving dinner.

I’m not an archaeologist, nor do I really know anything about shoes, but let’s go on this journey together.
