It’s insane to treat the filibuster as the most sacrosanct.

Article 1 power of the purse, oversight, and war? Nah.

Emoluments clauses? Bribery prohibition? Meh.

Criminal law? 14A? Doesn’t count.

But maybe the Senate changes a rule it has multiple times before? Gasp! Not that. Anything but that.

the thing is, there are much more difficult fights on the horizon. if we give you power there will be times right wing media is engaged and youre on the right side of history and wrong side of public opinion and why would anyone think you have what it takes to do what we all know needs to be done

Exactly. The worst example of this is Rod Dreher bragging about chumming around with JD Vance and Viktor Orbán while also decrying the spread of groyperism among gen z conservatives.
It is particularly head scratching to read his insistence that “President Trump’s agenda” (see thread) is something distinct from this movement, and not the epitome of the post-liberal project he claims to despise.

Like yes, this has happened, but a big reason it happened is because of MAGA.

I don’t have a whole lot of advice for people younger than me but the earlier in life you stop worrying about what other people will think and just wholeheartedly enjoy the stuff you like the happier you’ll be
One thing people kind of tell you, but not really, about middle age:

One day you'll be like "oh [thing] looks fun but people will think I'm a loser" about a thing

And then you'll say. Wait a second.

Fuck 'em

After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run.

We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.

If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇
Democratic leaders have failed us again. It's time to get new leaders.
After yet another capitulation by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, it's clear we need new leadership capable of mounting a serious opposition to Trump's authoritarian regime. We're launching our la...

Chuck Schumer and folks who supported him like Hickenlooper must be ousted.

We've had enough with corporate donor backed Democrats. It's time to elect a Senator from Colorado who will actually fight for the working class.

You can only play the “we need to all move on and get along and not criticize each other” card when you are actually working together on a united front moving in the direction the voters support.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

I'm worried about both equally TBH: Facebook is radicalising older, normal people en masse.

Twitter radicalising elites who are hyper engaged.

Both feeding each other in poisioning the discourse and media ecosystem. It's brutal and a pretty nasty feedback loop.

Algorithm social media is a curse
Fell down a facebook rabbit hole thanks to something a family member shared. Labour should be really concerned, the tone and circulation of posts now has a simialr feel to Conservatives in 2023 but with an added side of far right memes. Facebook worries me far more than X
