He stays like that for a handful of seconds until he wrenches his hand away, cradling it to his chest. He winces, grinds his teeth together, as he closes the distance between us so he can show me his hand as the skin hardens like rock. “Will it stay like that?” I ask. “No. I’ll get it looked at when I go home.” “Sure. What exactly is a Chimera?” He rolls his sleeve back down. “Well, in Greek mythology, they’re monsters that are one part lion, one part—” “I meant you. And Zev. And that woman.”
