The Seanad will this afternoon pass a resolution of sympathy for Sr Stanislaus Kennedy.
This expression of sympathy is normally reserved for heads of state and prime ministers.
The Cathoirleach of the Seanad Mark Daly and Leader Sean Kyne organised the resolution.

NEW Áras an Uachtaráin has confirmed that President Higgins travelled to St James Hospital by arrangement today to have a localised infection examined. The President, who is in good spirits, will remain in hospital overnight to receive antibiotics before returning to the Áras
