I usually don’t appreciate background audio in audiobooks, but the soundtrack to this ab complements the story marvelously: instrumental interludes, river sounds, weather, and (crucial to the plot) singing, both solos and duets. High thumbs-up!

Why is it sad to say adieu to a faithful pair of shoes? These were meant to take me around Scotland, a trip scuttled by Covid. Since then, they became comfortable stand-bys for my office job, and then trusty work boots around the house. The heel blew out. I’m saving the laces as twine.
