Mostly here to talk about data infra. Opinions will eventually be your own.
Hahaha. Thanks for sharing the link! So you simply use the on-screen keyboard rather than an external one?

The bare metal era is about to end. Soon, the only money will be paper money.

Have you paired a Bluetooth keyboard with it? Which one fits well? (Size-wise, etc)

I wonder if those who baptized this language speak Spanish. Interesting either way 🤷‍♂️

How does the S3 backend compare with Warpstream? Is it fully equivalent? Or same intent but less mature impl? Or…?

Wow 😮

Deutsche Bank is apparently following in Burry’s footsteps, or considering it at least 🤔

BREAKING: Deutsche Bank is exploring ways to hedge its exposure to data centers, per Bloomber.

It's looking at options including shorting a basket of AI-related stocks and buying default protection via synthetic risk transfers.

Would be great to get your take on this @profgalloway.com on the next @pivotpod.bsky.social or whichever pod. I can’t keep track, you’ve got so many of them 🤣

+, if you build it this way, then there is no argument possible around future migrations being too expensive… it’s literally the exact same wire protocol. You could swap one for the other easy peasy.
November 5, 2025 at 10:32 PM
Why not simply build a Kafka wire protocol-compatible stateless proxy, a la Warpstream, but which behind the scene uses Postgres rather than S3 for storage?

There are so many projects and companies that reimplemented the K wire protocol, one more should be nothing. Then your vision can take off?

So… it’s a saas? I don’t see any open source stuff (not even with a weird/modern license like AGPL-Mongolese edition or whatever).

I think it’s totally fine to build and offer saas, but why does it matter that it uses rust and arrow? IMHO, a saas competes on features and price, not impl details…

I hadn’t realized "'XYZ' Considered Harmful" was a whole genre. I need to finally get started on my own incendiary post: "'Strong Consistency' Considered Harmful" 🤣

Québec speaks French roughly how it was spoken three centuries ago at the royal court. The French distorted it since then, but we don’t give them shit for it 😊

Cropping in the blog post’s schema is done via filtering, whereas in the wide table schema I described it is done via projections.

Why not have one frame per row, with however many columns it needs (i.e., 3 * x * y)? It would be interesting to measure how columnar compression performs on this setup, given that each pixel position/color would get its own dedicated column. Presumably Delta/RLE may do well in that setup!
