In my northern NY district (NY-115), the Democrat won state assembly. Congressional district which is larger geographically is represented by Elise Stefanik who will likely announce a gubernatorial run soon. Democrats can win on a state/local level here even though much of state district is rural.

Hard to believe Diane Keaton has passed away. These are my favorite roles of hers, and also two of my all-time favorite movies that I first watched as a kid and have rewatched countless times since. She was versatile as an actor, and her fashion sense pushed women's fashion forward. An icon.

Moved rose plant inside for a couple of days in preparation for frost. Then back outside when it warmed up. Now there’s a new rosebud. 🌹

I grew up going to the same denomination of Presbyterian church as this young pastor. In the story, this pastor, Rev. David Black, said he was praying before ICE fired pepper balls or chemical agents his way. “We could hear them (the officers) laughing,” Black said.

I just watched “Phantom Thread” for the first time since it was released. It’s hard to think of a film that is so disturbing while being quiet and seemingly benign and maybe even a typical romance at first glance. And the costumes are sublime. Nominated for 6 academy awards. Won best costume design.

An 1866 act of Congress prohibits living people from appearing on currency. Congress made an exception for Calvin Coolidge, who was alive in 1926 when he appeared with Washington on Sesquicentennial of American Independence Half Dollar. Coolidge is the only living president featured on a U.S. coin.

(Some) of my favorite Armani looks. I remember watching the Oscars red carpet every year as a child. It seemed like every A-list man wearing a classic tux would answer the all-important “who are you wearing?” question with Armani. Iconic.

All of this is very well and good but “Ocean’s Eleven” was the most fun to watch of the 21st century for me. Not “the best” academically but delightful.

Graphic from New York State shows 44,082 residents of NY-21, which includes Adirondacks, will lose their health insurance coverage when the Big Beautiful Bill passes. Rural hospitals here will lose $96,141,526 in reimbursements. Hospitals could close or drastically cut services and local jobs.

Air quality in Plattsburgh, NY right now. Canadian wildfires are terrible. Not a bad idea to wear a mask to protect your lungs if you’ll be out for a while.

My Oscars best dressed. Not a lot of bold colors this year (with some exceptions) but I am loving the pale pinks, silver and beading.
