I know it might come across as nitpicking, it might be, but naming can be an incredibly important part in the identity of a character. Ratchet’s name was unique, it’s part of his main character energy, a way that makes him stand out.

Ratchet doesn’t know his birth name. By all accounts, he likely named himself (given the way he names Clank).

Ratchet didn’t have insight on the "cultural naming conventions" of his kind, and this is further demonstrated with how Kaden, Alister, Angela were named.
