Like I was genuinely surprised when I saw that he went to china on a paid trip (I just assume it was, otherwise he wouldn't have been on CGTN) but I'm mostly surprised because a lot of the people I know who like him like him because of his "integrity" and this just feels like a betrayal of that

Oh he definitely doesn't care, which isn't really surprising, but I also think he cares enough to not become a Jackson Hinkle type spineless mouthpiece. Mostly because I don't think he does it for monetary gain. I honestly don't know why he specifically does it

Also I would do the same, although for me it would be more of a "look at the 5000 years of Chinese history" tour

I don't think he did much planning himself tbh. Although I guess when you're a propaganda mouthpiece you could always ask to do more propaganda so I don't see a reason for them to say no to such stuff.
