Are there people in prison who don't care about society? Sure. But a lot more of them are people society has failed.

Okay, but these people often get out, have no support system, have no money, and reoffend. There should be a safety net. When my brother got out of prison, they didn't even give him his personal belongings back. Just dumped him at a bus stop with no wallet and no medication.

It's more about the fact that this country would collapse if incarcerated people were paid a proper wage for the work they do. Because they fight fires, make license plates, they served as house staff for Clinton when he was governor. They work for pennies on the dollar.
