If you look up the directions in Google maps you can select “Avoid motorways” for your route. If you can link it to your car it will tell you the route.

I loved the book Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell. There’s soon to be movie of it.
The only problem is I read it having watched Upstart Crow. So in my head the main characters looked like David Mitchell and Lisa Tarbuck. That’s not who they’ve cast in the movie 😂
