that one is actually a 2nd gen. (the 2nd gens have taller tail lights than the 1st gens) in my area however there are actually 2 1st gens, one is a heavy duty like that one and the other is a standard one. at one point, i remember one of them had a hood on it with the cutout for the MB logo.

the comic reminded me of this Sony PS-LX1 turntable i got from a garage sale of my godfathers stuff after he passed away. when i was changing the needle, the end of the arm snapped off and broke the tiny wires. i fixed it with ethernet cable wires, small automotive power connectors, and superglue

that stunt-Herbie (labeled as Herbie #10 by the production team during filming) was the Herbie that got bumped off the road before the scene where Herbie fell out of the tree. it was also reused as the junkyard beetle in Herbie Rides Again

my parents got me these movies when i was 3 years old. im 22 now and still love that little car so damn much. in 2022 i even went down to florida for the 53rd anniversary of the first movie, and got to see a surviving stuntcar Herbie from the first movie
