I wrote this three years ago and cringe a little at the quality of my prose, but also I do stick by this article and everything in it, especially this:

I think you can't really talk about "why do Nazis love alternate history" without acknowledging the long history of works both in and out of genre that expliclty or implicitly glorify the Nazi and its contemporary fascist states as superior societies of superior efficiencies to democratic ones

So, how, in the name of all that is pure and good and true, *do you keep managing to STILL spend entire chapters babbling at each other and doing precisely nothing else?*

So saying of any Quebec government - even the ones that DON'T do this kind of stupid shit - that they don't understand secularism is at best, a misleading translation, and at worst a misapprehension - because the Anglosphere's idea of Secularism just isn,t a thing many people in Quebec care about.

When one considers the circumstances of their birth - secularism around the reformation, the rise of reformed churches, and in countries where those were common, and often government oppressed ; laicité in Catholic-dominated societies where the Church was a state within the state, it seems sensible.

Put very broadly and simply, it seems to me one advocate separation of church from state (ie, religious practice being free of government interference) and the other in separation of state from church (ie, state/civil society practices being free of religious interference).

But if you don't make lengthy posts about how bad every thing is every time, how will people know you actually care about any thing?!?!

(Very, very sarcastic)

…yes, clearly the statement is meant to be universal all-or-nothing applicable to every capitalist or capitalist-ish country.

...which is exactly what capitalism wants (A government and popular movements that deny climate change and react violently to any attempt to do something about it), which is why capitalism is propping up fascism right, left and centre?

Which makes it capitalism's answer to climate change?

This, so clearly.

It's not serious business sport as far as any of them care - it's just some billionaire's weird eccentricities.
