Well, definitely my first year getting to enjoy snow before Halloween! ☃️

Crazy to think I hiked to the Mount Revelstoke summit lakes Oct. 4 with hardly any snow in sight, to come back Oct. 25 & find it already so nicely fluffed up for winter ❄️

Snowshoes ready. Bring it on!

We’re well into nesting season here in Revelstoke! Some vivid glamour shots of these marvellous western painted turtles on May 25, during their egg-depositing journeys uphill from the Columbia River 🐢

Back in Victoria, my dad’s interactions with wildlife never fail to be hysterical 🤣

Photographed this lovely creature near the BC Interior Forestry Museum this weekend.

My entomologist grandpa deduces that this is likely a California tortoiseshell ;)

My second close encounter this month with a magnificent moose, this time safer & along the trails of beautiful Mount Revelstoke National Park! 🫎🌲

In short, the day could’ve gone very differently for me, whether the snowmobilers came a minute later, or never. I learned my lesson & won’t go back there alone.

I photographed moose tracks (15 minutes before the encounter) & the stretch of road the moose appeared along (a couple minutes before). 🫎

Got chased by a moose today while alone in the B.C. backcountry. A near miss thanks to some snowmobilers…🧵

I went snowshoeing 11.5km along a dogsled road near Revelstoke & stopped to finally head back. I noticed movement in the trees about 200 metres farther along & recognized a large ungulate…
