NEW VIDEO!
Horror and fantasy have always been strongly related through their shared gothic lineage and the survival horror genre in particular has long adhered to a dungeon crawling game structure which greatly influences the ways in which its stories are constructed. Let's explore that!

Turns out I shouldn't need additional surgery after all!
It is tomorrow but now the surgery is tomorrow. Extra day on the ward.

Least I get some days off work
The gigantic cyst on my head is gone but not dead. There are more roots beneath the roots and I will have to be put under for surgery tomorrow to kill it truly.

One day, when I feel like writing about games again, I will write about the small but fascinating pub crawl genre of the early British games industry.

I love you profoundly, and I intend to do so forever.
Currently on my Japan trip and while deciding to look at Sega headquarters my darling loving girlfriend Serah @etherealserah.bsky.social proposed to me. I said yes, gay women married in front of the home of Sonic the Hedgehog. We'd like to thank Sonic 06 for resulting in this series of events.

A little bit later, but I know there's also at least one demake of a Japanese eroge from this scene! Anime Story from 2004 is a conversion of Three Sisters' Story for MS-DOS and Windows.

The Russian ZX Spectrum scene of the mid-late 90s is fascinating. With more powerful computers expensive and out-of-reach for most, there was a scene of dedicated strategy fans bringing demakes and unique versions of Civilization, Master of Orion, and XCOM to ZX Speccy 'Pentagon' clones.

it's now been more than a year since I last made a video. I've been kinda down on the idea of ever doing anything else on YouTube to be honest. I still have things I'd like to rant about for an extended period--game maker, MSX, Wines of the World--but ig we'll see if they end up bein videos or blogs

I bought it. I also downloaded the updated Gold Edition, which has a slightly different user interface.

Honestly it's so charming that I kinda wanna get some wine now...
I'm kinda getting obsessed with multimedia CDs. Some of what I'm looking at is in my existing wheelhouse--digital magazines, electronic literature, etc--but I'm also trying really really hard not to buy "Wines of the World" right now. I don't even drink wine!

Actually speaking of the "kids these days" stuff I don't really have much patience for handwringing over zoomer “brainrot” humour because I grew up with "We Drink Ritalin" (actual title!) and other animutations on albinoblacksheep. We weren't an erudite generation

It's defo not the only reason fewer people are reading books, but talking about reading as though it's like eating your veggies probably isn't helping.

People talk about how you have to play and beat Nier Automata multiple times to get the full story but you don't. That's a formalism. The game has distinct chapters and uses the "ending credits" as chapter breaks. The game you're thinking of is Nier Replicant. That's the sicko shit.

Reading Roman de Silence (Sarah Roche-Mahdi translation) and I love how it opens with a lengthy tirade about how much the poet hates rich people.
