I think my confusion must be a Finnish v British thing - in Finland, public education is a core mission of museums. (Declaration of interest, I go to such events! Pic of audience listening to climate researcher through lit up headphones).

Frankly at this stage I am inclined to vote for anyone, of any party, who could plausibly promise to get

Ghastly selfie at UNGA 2 years ago but my reminder to self is that 2 yrs ago we got good language agreed on universal health coverage. A lot has changed since then but it will continue to change in the next two years and more, and we are not powerless outside America.

Puzzled by why the “Unite the Kingdom” racists are carrying the flag of Georgia (a country I am keen to visit but surprised it’s on their radar apart from the red and white colour scheme).

like it took me half an hour to express to a friend what I found so insulting in this statement ⬇️. It clearly feels like an insult to gay men I have worked alongside in child safeguarding work, but more than that. Something so wrong with this statement but I can’t pinpoint it.

My husband’s colleagues gifted him an axe as a leaving gift. Reading up about this special axe, I see it sells itself on reducing the risk of hitting the foot. Not eliminating of course, that would be ridiculous. Just a reminder that social niceties in Finland are different, I guess.

I’ve spent a couple of decades shrieking “not an earth mother” so that I don’t get inveigled into endless bake sales and babysitting but I am eagerly awaiting my crone years. As evidenced by the insane amount of berry prep I have done this year. #CronePathway

Or rather, the strategic use of humiliation is familiar tool in the kit of those of us used to negotiating from a position of weakness. It’s only real humiliation if you let it be. Losing control of your emotions so that humiliation drives your strategy only entrenches your weakness. As Ibsen knew.
